Giving and Giving

Community screening at Slum Film Festival Nairobi
Community screening at Slum Film Festival Nairobi

And what are you getting?

Young talent from Nairobi slums making great shorts films, screening their films in the Nairobi Slum Film Festival, and learning scriptwriting in the Script Power Seminar…

The Slum Film Festival was shown to thousands of people in Nairobi, Kenya, 6-13 August 2012, giving hard-earned recognition to young filmmakers from the slums.

The Script Power Seminar was co-sponsored by Hot Sun Foundation and a grant from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, to bring an award-winning scriptwriter from Los Angeles to lead a one-month intensive scriptwriting seminar for young filmmakers.

All because of YOU!

Your donations have kept Hot Sun Foundation and its Kibera Film School and Kibera TV programs going!

Without your support, we could not pay our bills.

Kibera Film School is  the only comprehensive, hands-on film-making training available to youth in Kenya from families with limited economic resources.

Yes that's right…the ONLY intensive film-making training in Kenya that prepares youth from slum communities to share their stories on video to their communities and the world.

Here's a recent post on the Hot Sun Foundation website: I am overwhelmed at how you have groomed so much talent from the Kibera slum that would have never been discovered

We are counting on you.

Especially helpful would be a recurring donation of $25 or more every month… the cost of a restaurant meal… gives us a base of financial support.

Thank you always.
