Keep Girls in Rugby

Greetings from Shamas Rugby Foundation, we are grateful for your continued support. During this period, we have continued with our regular programs; Rugby, and counseling.

Through our rugby program we are engaging more girls in primary and secondary schools. Our beneficiaries have taken part in rugby tournaments, both invitationals and inhouse matches. These interactions with children from diverse backgrounds give them a diverse experience of life beyond what they are used to.

Through such engagements, we continue to provide to children, especially young girls, with an opportunity to express themselves, a safe space to discover themselves and skills that will help them make better and informed decisions about their lives.

We invite you to keep supporting Keep Girls in Rugby Campaign so that we can meet the growing needs for our girls.

No major update to be reported at the moment. The Project has continued with its regular activities and the engagement of girls in rugby is going on as planned. During the next 7 weeks, more girls are expected to join as school are currently closed for holidays. Training sessions, tournaments, and friendly games with teams from other clinics and also with teams from other organizations in Kenya. The training sessions will be focused on basic skills, game awareness, understanding of the laws of the game etc. The girls will focus on 15-aside rugby until the end of April to then shift to 7-aside rugby for the May-September period.

As of today. March 23rd, 2021, we are still actively fundraising for this project. None of the amounts that have been donated so far have been used. We shall wait until we reach a significant amount of donations to actually use the funds for the purpose they are intended to.

This projected is intended to support our girls in developing their rugby skills while still being provided with the necessary material, rugby kit and support to stay in the game.

Our girls have a passion for the sport and want to keep playing. However, some times they do not have the right gear and kit. Let us support them!

Keep donating! Keep supporting us to #KeepGirlsInRugby
