Greetings from Uganda!
As 2019 winds to a close, we'd like to share a quick update on on Elevate's progress regarding "Help Ugandan Children Thrive at School". Thanks to your incredible generosity, we've now raised $11,005 towards our goal of $16,420!
Because of you, Elevate will soon be able to support 20 new communities in rural Uganda to develop innovative solutions to improve education at their school. We do this through our program called, "It Takes a Village to Teach a Child" or as we like to call it, "Village TEACH."
Since September, our team has been preparing for expansion into these 20 new communities, which will begin to work with shortly after children return from holiday break in January. We've been refining the workshops we conduct during the program to include activities rooted in positive psychology, growth mindsets, and positive deviance (which leverages the "wisdom of ordinary people" to revolutionize their communities), and piloting these workshops with some of our partner communities.
We've also been collaborating closely with government partners at the local and national levels to make sure we have their commitment and buy-in to support the program (we do!), and that we are successfully aligning our program alongside government priorities (we are!).
Since our recent impact evaluation demonstrated that Village TEACH reduces student dropout by 40% (at about $0.08 per child), we've been really energized to share our work with new schools and communities. Thanks to supporters like you, we'll be able to do that early next year!
