Thank you for supporting Keep Argentina’s Abortion Access Line Open.
We wanted to share an important update: between January and September 2026, Amnesty International Argentina received 346 cases through our abortion access reporting and support channel.
Each case represents a person who needed information, guidance, or support to access a legal right.
Abortion is legal in Argentina, but access is still not guaranteed equally in practice. People continue to face delays, misinformation, stigma, lack of institutional response, and barriers that can make a legal health service difficult or impossible to obtain in time.
The cases we received came from every province in the country. This matters. It shows that barriers to abortion access are not isolated or exceptional. They appear across Argentina, in different health systems, institutions, and local contexts.
At the same time, 48% of the people who contacted us live in the City of Buenos Aires and the Province of Buenos Aires, where a large share of the country’s population is concentrated. Outside that area, the number of cases varies by province, with Córdoba and Salta among the provinces from which we received the highest number of reports.
This information helps us do more than respond case by case. It allows us to identify patterns, understand where access is being blocked, and build evidence to demand better institutional responses.
That is why this line is so important.
When someone contacts Amnesty, they are not just filling out a form. They are helping make visible what too often remains hidden: where the law is not being implemented, where people are being delayed, where information is missing, and where institutions need to be held accountable.
Your support helps us keep this channel open, review and systematize the cases we receive, follow up when possible, and turn individual reports into evidence for advocacy, public reporting, and legal action.
A legal right only becomes real when people can actually access it.
