Dear Friends, Family and supporters of Serendipity,

From the last you heard from us we have adopted an additional school with 75 pupils in Muslim Community School in Fagge Local Government Kano. Kano State is a vital hub in Northern Nigeria, which faces significant challenges in its education sector, particularly concerning the girl child. With an alarming number of out-of-school children and pervasive multidimensional poverty, access to quality foundational education is critical for the state's development. This report highlights the urgent need for interventions, showcasing the impact of Serendipity Healthcare Foundation's efforts in rural communities and outlining a clear call to action for broader collaboration and support.

Education is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of societal progress. However, in Kano State, millions of children, especially girls, are deprived of this right. This crisis is exacerbated by deep-rooted socioeconomic challenges and has prompted the state government to declare a State of Emergency on Education.

Investing in girl child education from the foundational level yields immense benefits for individuals, families, and communities. Educated girls are more likely to:

Experience improved health outcomes: They are better informed about hygiene, nutrition, and maternal health, leading to reduced child mortality and improved family well-being.

Achieve economic empowerment: Education equips them with skills for better employment opportunities, contributing to household income and poverty reduction.

Participate in civic life: They are more likely to be aware of their rights and actively engage in community development and decision-making processes.

Break cycles of poverty: Educated mothers are more likely to educate their own children, creating a positive intergenerational impact.

Reduce child marriage and early pregnancy: Education provides girls with alternatives and empowers them to make informed choices about their future.

In total we have adopted three schools in Tofa local Government Area, Tarauni and Fagge, and in each school, scholarships were given to the children and additionally this year we have added giving the school teaching materials. Our objective is to start being trained from the foundational level of the girl child being from Nusery to Primary school to reduce multidimensional poverty in our rural communities.

Thus far we have recorded a success rate of 60% of school enrollment and in their studies.

Inflation is currently at 38% and thus things are becoming more difficult for our rural communites as poverty and hunger is on an all time high. And with research still conducted and the rate of out of school children has risen from 75% to now almost 100%. This is as a result of the cyrrent policies in place that is affecting the poor more because they can longer afford basic needs unlike before and only looking at how to survive instead of living.

Our next goal is to include other areas of support to the school as there are cross cutting issues we intend to achieve to facilitate their learning experience.

We want to specifically thank you our donors especially our recurring donors for bringing a smile upon our children to access education as when you teach a girl child a community is being built.

Thank you once again!!
