Every child deserves a teacher who believes in them; one who shows up, even when the odds are stacked high. At Teach For Uganda, that teacher is called a Fellow. And every day, Fellows like Esther step into overcrowded, under-resourced classrooms to do one thing: give children the chance to read, count, dream, and thrive. But here's the truth: keeping a Fellow like Esther in the classroom for a year costs $8,000, and we can't do it alone. One donation. A hundred futures changed.
Uganda faces an alarming learning crisis. According to the World Bank (2022), 83% of 10-year-olds in Uganda are unable to read and comprehend a simple story. Despite the government's efforts to expand access to education, deep inequalities remain, especially in rural areas where schools are under-resourced, classrooms are overcrowded, and trained teachers are often few and far between.
Teach For Uganda is building a new pipeline of passionate, trained, and community-rooted teachers, called Fellows, who are placed in underserved government schools to improve foundational learning and drive holistic development. Each Fellow commits two years to teaching in a rural school, using proven methodologies like Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL), and receiving regular coaching, mentorship, and leadership training. Fellows don't just teach, they inspire, advocate, and transform
