This project provides education and food support to 200 vulnerable and neglected children in Nairobi, Kenya.
Mutuini Ward has hundreds of alcohol and drug addicts who give birth to children they can't take care of. Some of the children are orphaned due to HIV/Aids or have ailing parents. Because of this, more than 1,000 children live in deplorable conditions and do not get enough and nutritious meals and healthcare, do not join school and many of those who do often drop out. Many of these children risk growing up and getting into crime, prostitution and substance abuse just like their parents.
Mutuini Hope & Development Project provides food, care and education to 200 of the affected children with hopes of reaching out to more. The bigger children, especially girls, are enrolled in boarding secondary schools to keep them away from lurking danger of sex abuse and recruitment into substance abuse. All the children undergo counselling and mentorship.
The project will bring up healthy children who attend school up to college. These children will lift themselves, their families and the community out of rampant poverty and reduce instances of crime and dependence on drugs and alcohol.
