Three representatives of the University of New Mexico visited Bemba Land this month to conduct interviews and distribute surveys to measure the impact of the Women To Be project there. Two instructors and a recent graduate of the Univeristy visited schools, medical clinics, and a sewing center to observe and intereact with students, teachers, parents, and medical professionals to gain insight into education, health, and general life experience for girls.
Surveys and qualitative data will be compiled to help Women To Be understand how well the Bemba project is going, how to improve, and where new opportunities may exist. And the information they will gather from the medical cliinics will help us understand other issues like child marriage, teen pregnancy, and women's health issues.
After a kit distribution at a school, one of the instructors emailed us that she understood why we do this work. She must have seen what a difference a kit can make in a girl's life. Exactly!
