After successfully providing over 16,000 surgeries through our Guwahati Comprehensive Cleft Care Centre in 6 years (around 10 surgeries daily), we have brought the state close to being the First Cleft Free State in India. We wish to start a centre on similar lines in Kolkata to provide all the care and treatment a Cleft Child needs (Nutrition, Surgery, Dental, Speech and Child Life) all under one roof. We can proceed if we raise the support needed for 200 surgeries for the first 2 years.
For a cleft child, surgery is a part of the solution, to fully recover, he/she needs -Nutrition, Dental, Speech and Child Life among others. Hence Comprehensive Cleft Care Center is needed. We have built and successfully run such a center at Guwahati in North East India for 6 Years performing over 16000 Free Surgeries making the state nearly 'CLEFT FREE' . Hence after this success, we want to replicate the model in another state in Eastern India which has an estimated of over 50,000 Cleft cases.
Mission Smile's Kolkata Comprehensive Cleft Care Center will provide free surgery and comprehensive care to the cleft children of West Bengal and neighboring states. With a target population of over 130 Million, it will give the needy Cleft Patients the much-needed multi-disciplinary support - Nutrition, Surgery, Speech, Dental - all under one roof. From 200 Surgeries initially, we plan to scale it up to 1000 Surgeries Annually adhering to global standards of safety and care .
Through our programs, we aim to overcome inequalities and improve the quality of life of persons born with Cleft and other facial deformities. Through our centers and missions, we have been able to transform the lives of over 30,000 beneficiaries till date and have provided them with the much needed surgery to get back their self esteem. Comprehensive Cleft Care Center also serves as a training and research center for Surgeons from across the world for building skills in Cleft Surgery.
