We are happy to announce we will be partnered again with the Michaelle Solages the Assemblywomen for 22nd Assembly District in NY, where the foundation serves its community for our annual backpack drive. We have ordered backpacks and supplies to support 50 families in our community.
Many families in the area are still struggling dur to the ongoing pandemic and we wanted to help families by providing our them with the tools their young scholars need to have a successful schoolyear. We are thankful for the continued support of our donors and ask that you continue to support us by providing your donations.
Because without the support of our community, the Yva Jourdan Foundation would otherwise not be able to provide the resources necessary for children in our community to thrive during this school year. As our we find a way to get back to schools in the fall I hope to resume our reading experience, at the very least offering as a virtual supplement to the class.
Please continue to support us and thanks again for all that you are doing to support all nonprofit organizations especially at this unprecedented time.
Warm Regards,
Marsha Guerrier
In the first half of the school year we continue to experience challenges due to the public health crisis. The Yva Jourdan Foundation provided an elementary class in the Uniondale schools with the Just As I Am Kindness book as a holiday gift. The class unfortunately went remote just before the holidays and will receive their gifts when they return to in person lessons. I will provide you with the images to assure you that we have continued our mission to provide elementary aged children in disadvantaged areas of Long Island our books.
Our virtual reading on World Kindness was rescheduled for the start of the new year as the class was impacted by a positive case. We will continue to remain in touch with our school teachers and principals to host virtual readings and distribute more books in the spring of this year. I continue to seek partnerships with organizations to sponsor the virtual book readings. Your donations fully go towards the purchase of the book. Thank you again for your support and making this program a success.

As we prepare to send our children back to school, the Yva Jourdan Foundation is preparing for this school year’s reading. Our goal is to host virtual readings for children in the Long Island and Queens Area schools. Joshua and I were featured on Pix 11 News in NY and in Black Enterprise for our book Just As I Am - Kindness. We are excited to continue spreading kindness to elemantary age kids and their families.
Joshua is eager to present the book to the incoming 1st grade class at his school in Queens, NY. Joshua and I will continue to provide our book about Kindness to students throughout NY. I continue to seek partnerships with organizations to sponsor the virtual book readings. Your donations fully go towards the purchase of the book. Thank you again for your support and making this program a success.

In my last report I mentioned that our reading program has inspired me to publish my own book called Just As I Am – Kindness. My son Joshua and I are excited to publish this book together and he is now a published Author.
Joshua presented the book at this year’s classroom and virtual book reading. Joshua read the book to his 1st grade class with over 15 students both in person and virtually via zoom. We are on schedule for another fully virtual reading with the children of Pre-K in the Uniondale, NY school district with Mrs. Washington.
Joshua and I will continue to provide our book about Kindness to other schools throughout NYC. I am currently seeking partnerships with organizations to sponsor the virtual book readings. Your donations fully go towards the purchase of the book. Thank you again for your support and making this program a success.

Happy New Year! Last our community faced so much with the pandemic and the social unrest. Many children were impacted with schools going fully remote. Schools reopened to a hybrid and in person schedule but with no outside programming allowed.
With so many changes occurring we had to allow schools to focus primarily on their process before introducing our virtual reading program. During this time we have decided to develop a book about kindness that featured an African American character. The book is titled Kindness Is... The Many Ways to Show Kindness.
The main character is a young boy name Joshua who talks about ways that he is kind to others. Because many of the schools that we provided our readings and books to, are largely populated with people of color, we felt the book we used represents the children.
We are in the process of completing the illustrations and hope to have the book ready to print and donate to a classroom this February for Black History Month. Proceeds from the book will be given back to the program to provide as many children as possible. Your donations fully go towards the purchase of the book. I look forward to reporting back the impact this back will make on our community.
