Children's Progress Through Judo
For more than 20 years, Judo-Sport-Verein Düsseldorf e.V. has been helping children grow through sport. Our mission is not only to teach judo techniques but also to build confidence, respect, discipline, and a sense of belonging. Currently, around 100 children train with our club, and every week we see how sport helps them become stronger—not only physically, but also personally.
During this reporting period, our training program continued without interruption. Children from different cultural and social backgrounds trained together, supported one another, and learned important life values such as teamwork, perseverance, and mutual respect. Every practice is designed to create a safe and positive environment where every child has the opportunity to develop at their own pace.
The hard work of our young athletes was reflected in outstanding sporting achievements. Our U11 team proudly won the Düsseldorf Kreispokal, one of the most memorable moments of the year for our club. At the individual level, Maksim Borsuk became West German Champion (U15), while Teia Spektorova earned a bronze medal at the West German Championships (U18).
Our athletes also represented JSV Düsseldorf at several international tournaments in the Netherlands, returning home with numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals. These events gave our children valuable international experience, strengthened their confidence, and motivated them to continue pursuing their goals with dedication and enthusiasm.
An important inspiration for our younger members came from Katharina Löb, who achieved 5th place at the German Senior Championships. Seeing an athlete who grew up in our club competing successfully at the national level shows our children what can be achieved through years of consistent effort, commitment, and passion.
Beyond competitions, we continued to promote healthy lifestyles and positive values through our participation in the nationwide initiatives "Kinder stark machen" and "Alkoholfrei Sport genießen." These activities complement our regular training by encouraging children to make healthy choices, build resilience, and develop self-confidence both on and off the tatami.
Although medals and titles are important milestones, our greatest success is seeing children become more confident, more responsible, and more motivated every year. Many young athletes who once joined our club as beginners now inspire the next generation by helping and encouraging younger children during training and competitions.
We sincerely thank everyone who believes in our mission. Your support helps us continue creating opportunities for children to learn, grow, compete, and discover their potential through judo. We look forward to continuing this journey and giving even more young people the chance to build a brighter future through sport.
