Juba is a city drowning in waste! Millions of people rely on imports, creating mountains of plastic, cans, and more. This trash rots in open dumps pollutes the air when burned, and threatens public health. Everyone suffers - residents breathe dirty air, and the environment is choked with waste. "SSGID Upcycles Juba!" tackles this by transforming waste into valuable products, creating a cleaner, healthier city for ALL. Fencing material, crafts, compost, and bio-energy will be generated by SSGID
There is a lot of waste in Juba City. Over-reliance on imports creates mountains of plastic, cans, and more. This trash pollutes the air when burned, rots in open dumps, and threatens public health. Residents breathe dirty air, the environment is choked, and tourism suffers. "Upcycle Juba Trash" tackles this! We transform waste into beautiful new products, training youths to do this, create a cleaner, healthier city for ALL Jubans, and attract visitors with a city reborn from its own trash.
Through the "Upcycle Juba Trash" project the following actions will be undertaken: Clean up the city by collecting and sorting plastic, cans, and other waste. Creatively Upcycling by transforming trash into beautiful, useful products like bags, toys, or even furniture. Sell and Train by selling these upcycled items, reducing reliance on imports, and creating jobs through skills training. Generating biogas with some of the waste, a very innovative and cheap way to get clean energy in Juba City.
Less waste means cleaner air and a safer environment for everyone. Upcycling creates new jobs in collection, sorting, and crafting upcycled products. Locals learn valuable skills in upcycling and business management. Less waste going to landfills means fewer greenhouse gases. Less waste reduces the spread of diseases. Selling upcycled products creates income for artisans and reduces reliance on imports. Upcycling fosters a culture of creativity and problem-solving, leading to new ideas.
