Through production of six stories a year, we are committed to informing individuals across the globe by infusing the publishing infrastructure with compelling stories and important information that catalyzes global dialogue and action.

Challenge

The news industry consistently reports through a national lens, stoking fears and suspicions, highlighting humanity's differences, and presenting us with a highly fragmented, out of date image of our world. Due to its extraordinary reach and impact on societies globally, journalism is inherently responsible for shaping our perception of both the world around us and our role in it. Yet this current method of producing stories neglects the globalized and interconnected nature of our daily lives.

Solution

Journalism must strive to reveal and address the interlocking way our world actually works, presenting audiences with a more accurate image of the world in which we live. We are committed to resolving the out-of-date journalistic model through production of accurate, multimedia investigative stories for and with our audience. Our stories, driven by data and reported from the ground, focus on 8 connected global issues: food, water, education, health, environment, energy, trade, and governance.

Long-Term Impact

Orb Media strives to help individuals connect global issues to their daily lives and make evidence-based demonstrations of the societal and political outcomes, regulations, and industry shifts driven by our reporting. We empower individuals to take informed action as local, national, and global citizens -- and we know this because we place critical emphasis on impact evidence through measurement of reach, engagement, and action that each story achieves.
