Report - Graduates Network - Fundacion Cimientos

By Nicolas Fiedotin | International Cooperation Manager

What concerns us?

In Argentina, the youth unemployment rate is approximately three times higher than the national average, and this age group also experiences the highest rates of informal employment. Additionally, it is estimated that one in four young people aged 18 to 24 neither study nor work—commonly referred to as a "double exclusion." This issue is even more pronounced in vulnerable communities, where it affects nearly half of this population.

Our Proposal

We support the post-secondary transition of socioeconomically vulnerable youth, primarily those who have participated in our programs. The Graduates Network aims to promote educational and/or job placement opportunities through various strategies. By collaborating with companies, higher education institutions, civil society organizations, and public agencies, we strive to offer training and employment pathways aligned with the needs and aspirations of these young people.

Key Lines of Action

  • Job Readiness Training
Programs designed to give young people a competitive edge when seeking their first job. This includes:

    • Workshops led by Fundación Cimientos on employability skills and job search tools.

    • Technical training delivered by partner companies, enhancing participants’ social capital and offering a rewarding volunteer experience for corporate collaborators.

  • Job Placement Support
We coordinate with companies and organizations to connect them with young job seekers from our Graduate Network. Companies share job openings with us, we pre-select suitable candidates, and send their resumes. The companies then proceed with interviews and hiring, while Cimientos continues to support the youth throughout the process.

  • Scholarship Management for Higher Education
We work with higher education institutions to share scholarship opportunities with graduates of our Secondary School Graduation Program (PFE). We assist with applications and follow up on results.

  • Graduates Training and Exchange Events
In collaboration with PFE, we host events for high school students in their final years to explore life planning, vocational and career guidance (e.g., university fairs, professional panels, mock interviews, etc.).

Our differentiator: The comprehensive post-secondary support tailored to graduates of the Future Graduates program, helping them build a meaningful life project.

Key Results

    • Reach in 2024: 3,698 youth are part of our Graduate Network, where they receive access to training and employment opportunities.
    • 265 young people enhanced their future through skill-building programs.

  • Record-Breaking Year! 12 job training courses delivered.

In 2024, our partners included Zurich Argentina and Zurich Foundation, Aeropuertos Argentina, Mercedes-Benz Argentina, BBVA, KPMG, Ogilvy, and Plaza Logística.
We also thank Motorola, Google, and JP Morgan for their valuable support.

In Their Own Words

“What I liked the most about the workshops was how they were conducted. The activities were genuinely fun and engaging. Every session was dynamic, which kept everyone actively involved. The overall experience created a positive and enjoyable environment that made learning incredibly rewarding.”
Oswaldo, participant in the Job Readiness Training
