Last July 23, for the first time in Cimientos, we invited pupils who graduate from school this year with our sholarship for a special lunch at our office. Taking advantage of their winter holidays, we held this event to get to know them and welcome them to our Graduates Network.
32 students participated! They came from many places of Buenos Aires: Villa Soldati, Villa Lugano, Beccar, Guernica, José C. Paz, Florencia Varela and Santos Lugares. Some of them had to travel more than 2 hours to get to our office.
All of them received “Guias del Estudiante” which are guides donated by an Argentine editorial than contain information of every private and public university. We also gave them useful information about university scholarships available for those who want to continue studying next year but can´t afford it.
Then Antonella, a 2007 graduate who we invited to share her experience with them. talked about her high school graduation, how she felt at that moment, how she decided to study to be a lawyer and how she obtained a job in order to cover her studies. They all listened carefully and made lot of questions about their personal and professional future options. She gave some advice to them and they were really grateful for it.
Finally we went all together to the movies to watch “Metegol”. ¡We had a beautiful and special afternoon with them!
Nora, from José C. Paz said: “It was a great day! I really I enjoyed meeting you all”.
We hope to keep on counting on your support to help argentine youth achieve higher education and obtain jobs so that they can escape poverty.
Best regards,
María and Josefina (Graduates Network team)
