Project Report | Nov 13, 2017
WHB 51st State Band on Friday 17 November

By Fiona Mayor | Administrator

51st State Band
51st State Band

There is a real buzz going round at World Heart Beat right now as rehearsals are well under way for the annual performance by the Academy's fantastic 51st State Band.  Our vibrant programme showcases the talent, enthusiasm and passion of our incredible young musicians and promises to be a thrilling and uplifting evening of live music.  The performances take place on Friday 17 November 2017 at 6:45 and 8:30 at Putney Arts Theatre, Ravenna Road SW15 6AW.  We would love to have you with us and you can apply for tickets through the following website: www.ticketsource.co.uk/whb

Earlier in the autumn, much to the surprise and delight of fellow passengers, a number of our students performed in Pop Up Performances one Saturday morning on Chiltern Railways Train No 165!  Spread discreetly throughout the carriage, the musicians gradually started to perform, one by one, an arrangement by our own composer/conductor, Michael Csanyi-Wills, of Wagner's rousing Ride of the Valkyries.  Arranged at the request of Yamaha, it really was a great and enjoyable experience for the musicians (and passengers!) alike.  Following that, the same students were invited to the Yamaha headquarters in Milton Keynes where they were able to try out many of the range of instruments that Yamaha produce.

Thank you so much as always for the continuing support and interest that you show in World Heart Beat which truly does make a difference to so many of our young people in develping their talents and building their confidence in a joyful and positive environment.
