IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has been Conducting searh and rescue activities with 250 teams in Izmir since the first hours of the earthquake and trying to help earthquake victims in every possible way such as hot meal, water, hygiene kit, food packet, cloths, baby diaper and biscuit, blanket distribution and psychological helps. A 6.6-magnitude (centred in the Aegean Sea at a depth of 16.5 kilometres) earthquake rocked the third-largest city in Turkey with about 4,5 million residents. For now, the earthquake has caused 102 deaths and more than 900 injuries. Some buildings collapsed and there are many people waiting to be rescued under the rubble.
We have sent 250 search and rescue teams from 60 provinces towards Izmir which were dispatched right after earthquake. We are also in the process of IHH mobile kitchens which provide hot food preparations has initiated for first night in the earthquake zone.
There are several long term destructive effects of earthquakes from unemployment to spreading disease. Our aim to reduce effects of earthquake upon people and provide them a healthy transition period from disaster to normalization.
