FINAL REPORT – SCOPE OF WORK for the year 2025
During the 2025 project year, iZibalo successfully implemented all planned activities across administration, infrastructure, service delivery, and learner support, ensuring the effective functioning and sustainability of the Maths Centre Project.
Overview Project Implementation
Administration
Throughout the 12-month period, learner and office stationery were procured as required. Monthly operational expenses, including internet connectivity for the Maths Tutoring Centre site and insurance, were paid consistently. All administrative activities were completed as planned, supporting uninterrupted project delivery.
Capital Expenditure
Capital improvements focused on strengthening infrastructure and compliance. Twelve laptops were planned for purchase, of which six were successfully procured. Additional upgrades included the installation of a gate for the rubbish area and the rerouting of ablution plumbing. These upgrades were completed within the allocated two-month period.
Contracted Services
Contracted services were delivered consistently over the year. Yard cleaning was conducted monthly, and the Maths Tutoring Centre facility was cleaned twice a week, maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment. All contracted services were completed as planned.
Personnel
Employee salaries were paid monthly over the 12-month period. This ensured staff stability and continuity in project delivery. All personnel-related commitments were fulfilled.
Training
Tutor training occurred concurrently with project delivery, allowing for practical, hands-on capacity building.
Tutoring and Learner Support
The project aimed to identify, enrol, and tutor up to 100 learners from the Maths Centre site and surrounding schools, prioritising access for non-fee-paying learners. During 2025, a total of 82 learners were assisted:
Weekly tutoring sessions were conducted throughout the year, with a strong focus on academic support, learner commitment, and progression in Mathematics.
Monitoring and Learner Replacement
Learner participation and commitment were closely monitored over the year. At the beginning of each school term, learners who did not attend lessons regularly, failed to complete homework, or lacked parental support were replaced with deserving and committed learners.
In total, 33 learners were replaced during 2025:
This process ensured that project resources benefited learners who were motivated and supported.
Reporting and Knowledge Sharing
Quarterly reports were compiled and shared with donors, parents, and partner schools. These reports highlighted learner progress, project challenges, and overall impact. All reporting and knowledge-sharing requirements were met.
Technical Considerations
Tutor training and project delivery occurred simultaneously over the year, allowing tutors to apply new skills directly within the classroom setting. This approach strengthened teaching quality and consistency across the project.
Acceptance Criteria and Outcomes
Continuation with Pure Mathematics
One of the key success indicators was the continuation of learners with Pure Mathematics. Results show that iZibalo learners significantly outperformed national averages:
Additionally, progression into Grade 10 showed strong growth for iZibalo.
Learners Benefited
While the target was 70 learners receiving free weekly maths tutoring, 65 learners benefited from free tutoring during 2025.
Tutors Trained
The project aimed to employ and train four tutors/administrative staff. During the reporting period, three tutors were successfully trained and skilled through the project.
Conclusion
The 2025 iZibalo Maths Tutoring Centre project was successfully implemented, with all core activities completed as planned. Despite minor variations in targets, the project demonstrated strong learner impact, effective monitoring, and outcomes that significantly exceeded national averages in Mathematics continuation. The project continues to provide meaningful academic support to underserved learners while strengthening local tutoring capacity.
