This International Women's Day 2026, Afro-Tech Girls (ATG) aims to raise $10,000 to provide 20 high-end laptops for promising female STEM graduates in Nigeria. As we yield to the theme for the year Give to Gain," where we give to these young girls for them to gain mastery in their chosen STEM Fields.
In Nigeria's digital landscape, the lack of personal computers widens the gender gap in STEM. Talented women face a critical barrier: they cannot fully participate in the digital economy without reliable access to laptops. This digital divide particularly affects female graduates, creating a cycle where limited tech access leads to reduced STEM opportunities. Without these essential tools, promising professionals risk falling behind in an increasingly digital world.
Through our IWD 2026 campaign, ATG will provide 20 high-quality laptops to dedicated female STEM graduates with industry-standard programming and data analysis software. Recipients selected based on merit and STEM potential will join ATG's established mentorship network. This initiative builds on our decade-long commitment to empowering African women in technology, providing both essential tools and guidance for career success.
Each laptop serves as a catalyst for change in our recipients' STEM journeys. These tools enable them to accelerate their professional development through hands-on technical work while accessing global learning platforms. Recipients can actively participate in virtual mentorship, develop their expertise, and launch innovative projects. With these resources, they're empowered to become role models for the next generation of women in STEM.
