A lot of children are struggling in this Pandemic with over 4 Million officially recognised as living in poverty. We aim to improve children's well-being in one of the most deprived areas in the UK so they can enjoy their 'childhood' again. Our target group is primary school children aged up to 11 year old in families that have been in various stages of lock down during this Pandemic for most of the last year. Home Start (Clacton on Sea & Jaywick) will add match funding to all money raised.
We are all in it together! Many say, we are all in the same boat, coping with Covid-19? Home-Start's experience of supporting the most vulnerable families feel that the better description is: "We are all in the same storm!" Some families are riding the storm in boats but a lot of families we are supporting have no boat and are left swimming, tired as they attempt to keep afloat. In response this project will provide a lifeline to enable children and their families to survive and thrive.
When lock down is over, many families will continue to need support due to the effects of lost jobs, increased anxieties, low income and isolation. With this project, we wish to support a local charity Home-Start who operates on the ground in the local community responding to local need, with a mission to make a real difference to the lives of local children in need. They will provide families in need with enough food to feed their children and activities to help develop their life skills.
With this project we aim to reduce the impact of the Pandemic on a group of children seriously disadvantaged by it and at the same time improve their life skills so that no child is without food, no child is without fun and no child is without opportunity.
