Closing the Circle for the Argamani Family, parents of N. – former Hamas abductee.
The Argamani family united to help 11-year-old Israel Sheinberg, who was diagnosed with aggressive cancer, and donated the medications of the family's mother, the late Liora.
Every household in Israel knows the Argamani family, as well as the moving story of the mother of the family, who recently lost her battle with cancer. In the last months of her life, the Argamani family was accompanied behind the scenes by Haverim L'Refuah. Haverim obtained for her expensive medication for the treatment of the brain cancer she suffered from, in an attempt to fight the progressive disease and prolong her life. A warm and courageous bond was forged between the organization's staff and the Argamani family that has been maintained to this day.
"N. is really happy to know that we have accompanied her family and assisted her mother in recent months," says Yael Heller, director of the association's Funds for Life Department. "A close and special bond has been formed between the family members and the organization." Now, after the mother passed away, her daughter and husband decided to close the circle and donate the expensive medications that were left behind after her passing – back to the association, so that they can help other seriously ill patients who need them.
One of the medications that were returned reached 11-year-old I.S. from Betar Illit, who suffers from a malignant tumor in his head and is in a complex medical condition.
The cost of a pack of about 30 pills of this expensive medication is worth 205,920 shekels ($56,400), so the donation of one pack of medicine left over is truly a life-saver for the child's family. The Argamani family was very excited to hear about the new purpose of the medicine, and promised "with God's help to visit the child soon, so that he may have a complete recovery."
