More than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Israel declared war on Hamas in October 2023, following the deadliest attack on Israel in decades. Millions of Palestinians in Gaza are under Israeli military attacks and trapped with little food, water, or electricity. Homes, hospitals, refugee camps, and schools are being destroyed. Violence against Palestinians by Israeli soldiers and settlers in the West Bank is escalating, along with the risk of broader regional violence.
A humanitarian ceasefire is imperative. Respect for international humanitarian law, including access to aid and safe passage for civilians, is paramount to prevent famine, protect lives, and meet civilians' urgent needs. Hostages must be released.
