Hello Aquarium Supporters!
An Exciting New Chapter at the Israel Aquarium
The Jewish holiday season was an especially busy and rewarding period at the Gottesman Family Israel Aquarium. Thousands of visitors passed through our doors, exploring Israel’s diverse aquatic environments and discovering the extraordinary species that inhabit our seas, lakes, rivers, and wetlands.
While visitors enjoyed the Aquarium’s galleries and exhibits, our professional team continued its important work behind the scenes. We are currently preparing to welcome several new species to the Aquarium. Before they can be introduced to the public, the animals must undergo a carefully managed process of acclimatization, veterinary monitoring, and adjustment to their new habitats.
Our aquarists are also preparing the new habitats, ensuring that water quality, temperature, lighting, nutrition, and environmental enrichment meet the specific needs of each species. This detailed work reflects our commitment to the highest standards of animal care and welfare. Although these new arrivals are not yet visible to visitors, we look forward to introducing them in the coming months and sharing their stories.
These developments are particularly meaningful as we prepare for a major milestone: in 2027, the Israel Aquarium will celebrate its tenth anniversary.
Since opening, the Aquarium has welcomed millions of visitors and has become an important center for aquatic education, conservation, research, and public engagement. Its first decade has been shaped by professional growth, the development of new exhibits, the expansion of breeding programs, and an increasing commitment to protecting Israel’s aquatic biodiversity.
The new species arriving behind the scenes represent the beginning of the Aquarium’s next chapter. As we approach our tenth anniversary, we are developing new experiences and initiatives that will celebrate everything achieved during our first decade while looking confidently toward the future.
We are grateful to the thousands of families who visited us during the Jewish holidays and to everyone who has been part of the Aquarium’s journey. We look forward to revealing our new residents and sharing our anniversary plans with you very soon.
