ISPCC is the national protection charity for children in Ireland. Our volunteers and staff work with some of the country's most vulnerable children who may be being bullied, suffering from mental health issues, dealing with abuse or neglect or just need a trusted adult to talk to. We provide a unique set of services to children and families, which include Childline (24 hour listening service), one to one therapeutic sessions, mentoring service and anti bullying programmes for schools.
We are the national child protection charity. Any child in Ireland can avail of the services that we provide. Childline is the only 24 hour support service for children in Ireland, which receives over 1,000 calls everyday from children looking to speak to a trusted adult about issues such as mental health, abuse, neglect, bullying, sexuality to name a few. Our childhood support workers are working with children and families throughout the country to support them with any challenges they may have
Our services help to empower and grow the child's confidence, helping them to develop the skills and resources they need in life, so if they come to another chanllenging time in their life, they have the skillset and coping mechanisms to deal with the situation in a confident way.
The ISPCC interact with more children on a daily basis than any other organisation in Ireland. We use the What Works Outcome Evaluation Tool. In 2014 our Childline service answered 462,505 calls, 11,555 text message conversations and 6,225 web engagements.
