Summary

A country with a decade of civil war, further ravaged by emergencies, continues to be saddled by huge challenges of addressing post-war and crisis recovery shocks. The odds have not been in favour of children in our operational communities and districts who hope to complete their education and fulfil their development aspirations. Marie, in Kambia District, shares the same dream as John in Kailahun District: finishing school and becoming a doctor. Endless dreams! We can help them reach safely.

Challenge

This community has only one pre-school, attracting pupils from nearby areas; implying that for these children and their future in this community and the country, an un-certain and bleak future with huge unmet needs for leaders of tomorrow - our children. Lacking conducive learning environments with no desks and chairs comes with great frustration for children in this community school. Water and toilet facilities are equally not in order. Making it difficult for children to concentrate and learn.

Solution

We are a group of committed change makers (in and outside of the community) with great desires of supporting children especially with friendlier spaces that enhances learning for children. We can't do this alone, and we need you, your community, institution, family and friends to help us. We want to begin rewriting the stories of hope for our children in Bawbaw community and one way we can start doing so is to support an enabling learning space where every pupil can have a chair to sit and desks

Long-Term Impact

The long term impact of this intervention is that we will be creating safer and conducive learning spaces for children; making education thrive in poor and deprived settings like BawBaw community and its surrounding neighborhoods. The other long-term impact is that we will be supporting to keep the girl child in school while maintaining their dignity to a safe toilet/sanitation facility that is separate from boys. School enrollment will ultimately rise and performance will do too
