This project is going to focus on arts and culture plus sports as means of education and help students in learning and realising their potentials in different fields. HS will focus on two goals of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development. Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. the project will reduce school dropout and support creativity in Aweil.
Education in South Sudan is promising as it has been growing in the recent years. However, the primary schools are not doing well so far. According to UNICEF 70% of primary-aged children are out of schools (UNICEF, 2017) which is very alarming, because it the world`s highest number of out of school children. The government of South Sudan has worked with partners to maintain the level of kids attending schools, specially at primary level. however, the goals are yet to be met.
This project will contain education, arts and culture, sports and entertainment activities organised in different schools in two (2) weeks' time in order to help pupils/students discover the other side of learning apart from classes. The activities will incorporate tangible and intangible heritage for the people of Aweil plus other communities living in NBeGs.
1. Connect primary and secondary schools in Aweil through arts and sports competitions. 2. Learning through arts and sports. 3. Involve civil society, private sector and parents in discovering and developing the talents of tomorrow`s leaders and athletes.
