Nuestros Ahijados is dedicated to "breaking the chains of poverty through education and formation." This project will keep children out of gangs, off the streets, and build futures by providing an education for 48 orphaned, abandoned, and poverty-stricken children in El Salvador.
In the wake of El Salvador's violent civil war, ending in 1991, more than 36% of Salvadorans live in poverty, many surviving and supporting a family on less than $2 per day. Children are the most affected, with almost 42% living this tragic reality. A lack of access to education is at the core of this problem, with the poor being particularly marginalized. Through education we are able to keep children out of gangs and off the streets.
By providing healthcare, community outreach, legal assistance, and most importantly, access to education, Nuestros Ahijados takes a post-war holistic approach to creating a better future for El Salvador's most vulnerable populations. With your support, these populations can attain the most fundamental requisite to overcoming poverty - an education. As a result, they can begin to dream of a better future. There is no limit to the change we can affect!
By ensuring the health, safety, and education of over 5,000 orphaned, abandoned, and poverty-stricken children and their families, we're fighting poverty, changing lives, and providing El Salvador with a brighter future.
