The Female Student Internship Program (FSIP) is a three-month hybrid initiative designed to nurture the leadership potential of female university final-year students and recent graduates with limited work experience. This highly competitive program provides outstanding candidates who express interest with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting our programs and projects, while also receiving mentorship, skill development, and networking opportunities.
South Sudan faces high youth unemployment, particularly for women who lack work experience and professional networks despite having degrees. Around 50% of South Sudanese youth are jobless, with over 60% holding college degrees. Female youth unemployment (ages 15-24) was 17.6% in 2023. This program addresses this gap by equipping female graduates with practical skills, mentorship, and connections, preparing them to be future leaders and contribute to the nation's development.
The Female Student Internship Program addresses South Sudan's severe youth unemployment, particularly for women. With youth unemployment at 18.27% in 2023 and female youth unemployment at 17.2%, many graduates lack experience and networks. By providing 16 annual internships with hands-on training, mentorship, skill development, and networking, the project empowers these women to overcome barriers and become future leaders for the nation's development.
This project's long-term impact on South Sudan is transformative. By annually developing 16 female leaders, it directly boosts women's economic participation and reduces the 17.2% female youth unemployment rate. Empowered women are crucial for post-conflict nations, leading to more stable families, increased civic engagement, better governance, and sustainable development, fostering a more inclusive and prosperous future for the entire nation.
