WBK plans to introduce the power of technology to 300 students that live in an impoverished community where many do not have access to the internet or laptops. This type of technology will introduce our students to a more diverse population of the world with their newfound access to the internet. Our students will gain many different skills from using microsoft office programs to email to coding. Understanding how to use technology will help equip our students for more successful futures.
Our students come from impoverished neighborhoods and underprivileged backgrounds. Many parents of only attended school up to third grade. The majority of our students do not have access to developing technology and the internet in their homes making it difficult for them to keep up with the world around them. Without access to technology and the developing world our students are at a disadvantage when it comes to furthering their education and entering the workforce.
This project will provide 30 new Google Chromebooks to Coral Springs Bilingual School, which will help our students learn about the world and share their life experiences in online platforms such as blogs. We want to give our students the opportunity to learn how computers, the internet, coding and access to the world around them can enrich their lives. Giving our students this access will fundamentally enrich their lives and give them more opportunities for successful futures.
These Chromebooks will allow our students and our community access to job training and learning opportunities, while keeping us connected with an international network of people who are interested in the success of community. Over 250 students will have access to the internet, coding courses and other educational resources allowing them to keep up with the technological advances of the world. This project will help our students rise out of poverty and have better lives.
