Project Report | May 10, 2018
Start in inclusion.

By Valentina Butenko | Project leader

Dear friends!

Thank you for your interest in our project and its support.

We continue to acquaint the visually impaired young people in Ukraine with the values and laws of European society. Now it is important for the Ukrainian youth. This is a start for inclusion in our society.

In July we are preparing to receive volunteers from different countries in our center. These are ordinary young people who within 10 days will communicate with blind young people in Kharkov, discuss how the representations of Ukrainians about European values are formed? They will be united by a common cause, excursions, leisure. In Kharkov, there is something to show our guests-volunteers.

The idea of an international youth camp in our rehabilitation center is this year making games and benefits for blind children and youth, using universal design standards.

During the year we actively prepared for this project. The models of 2 table games "Strategic sea battle" and "Vazhnitsa" are developed. These games are adapted in such a way that blind people can play with sighted peers. Joint leisure activities unite people, help overcome barriers. We have collected materials for making tactile manuals and books.

Our team considers human independence, its freedom, one of the most important European values. Therefore, we strive to educate blind young people of independence and activity. To this end, we conducted, together with Polish specialists, 3 trainings on the development of mobility and orientation in space.

In August, we plan to hold a summer youth camp "Path to independence" in Croatia for blind young people from all over Ukraine, where they can not only discuss what they care about, but also acquire communication skills, computer skills, the ability to navigate in space, they will find new friends.

In order to implement our plans, we really need your support.

We will be glad if our work is interesting to you.
