Challenge

In Ukraine there are more than 100,000 visually impaired people. This number is constantly growing as a result of war activities, reduction of the level of social security, health care and aging of population. In 2009 Ukraine ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilties, but its provisions are not implemented. The blind people in Ukraine face barriers in getting education in coparison to their healthy peers, independantly navigate, get employed according to their profession

Solution

The study trip to Bulgaria for 30 Blind youth aged 14-24 will introduce them to European living standards and social policy. Our European Partners are ready to share with us their experience in developing and promoting inclusive education, creating accessible environment for the disabled and their employment. This study trip will help us promote inclusion of people with disabilities in our Ukrainian society. The study trip to Bulgaria will help us gain the needed experience and initiate reforms

Long-Term Impact

This project will help 1500 visually impaired youth to implement their rights to education, employment and accessibility, which will make them and their families happy! The study trip to Bulgariawill help us gain the needed experience and initiate reforms to implement the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities.
