Introduce 30 Blind Youth to European Values

Thank you so much for supporting our project Introduce 30 Blind Youth to European Values.

We are getting ready for the next International camp for the blind youth to share the rehabilitation experience. The participants will be from different countries. Our Microproject Provide Physical Rehab for 10000 Blind Youth helped us implement one step toward the successful program of the camp. We co-sponsored education for the future Blind people Pilates instructor. Our Pilates Intructor who is visually challenged successfully completed Mat 1 and Mat 2 Pilates certification program and is going to be tested out in one month. She will be able to teach Pilates exercises to the Blind youth, create audio-workout and promote healthy life

“Due to the project i took Pilates courses, during the program I learned special methods and techniques how to teach Pilates for those who are visually disabled just like me: verbal and manual cueing. In the end of the program i was able to teach a class for 45 minutes while being supervised by the Certified Balanced BODY and PMA Pilates instructors. I am now confident in myself and I am sure I will bring health and minimize risks of injuries for the Blind people, as I will teach them how to exercise, be strong and easily navigate around”, she says.

Dear Supporter,

With the New Year we are trying to do our best to solve old problems with new approaches and new ideas!

80% of the blind people get into accidents and are injured every year. We will decrease this number and minimize the risks, by building strong and healthy bodies, while promoting exercising habits and Pilates as a way of life for the blind.

In Ukraine we have very poor situation with rehabilitation of visually challenged people. We don't have accessible fitness studios; our instructors do not welcome very much people with disabilities as they are afraid of working with them. Also, the Blind people when they study at school, they are told not to do any physical exercise because their vision can get worse. It is said by old eye doctors who are not aware of this kind of exercise as Pilates and its safe principles. In Ukraine we don't have audio-workouts, we don't have videos accessible for the Blind, we don't have fitness studios, where instructors know how to teach the visually challenged people. We have nothing. It is just last summer we started practicing Pilates with the Blind and we reached very good results.

So, we started a project to promote Pilates for people with disabilities in Ukraine, educate eye doctors about Pilates, provide Pilates education for low-vision instructors like me and later to record audio-workouts.

We are also preparing for the Summer Rehabilitation Program for the Blind Youth! Our Blind youth will get proper rehabilitation services and enjoy Bulgaria!
