Internet and ICT for Coffee Growers in Colombia

We are very happy to announce that we started activities in the territory with our team, we still improving our work methodology by planning new activities for the beneficiaries and we are close to deploying the next version of the web app, which will benefit 100 coffee growers at the end of the year.  

We are currently training coffee growers and teachers, two of the four audiences we will impact in 2019. Making the technological adoption process that each public needs will allow us to obtain better results related to the use of technological devices and the connectivity that we provide to them. We are finishing details to start training young people and women in the second half of the year.  

At the beginning of April, we carried out a co-creation activity in order to collect ideas and needs of the community regarding the use of technology and the problems that occur in the different stages of coffee cultivation. This collected information complements the baseline that we are finalizing to characterize our beneficiaries.  

In the next month we will deploy the new version of our application for coffee growers, this will allow to record the activities of the farm in a better way and save data to receive better technical assistance in their crops. We also started to accompany the farmers about the use of the application with the help of our team in the territory, in order to continue looking for strategies so that the application will be increasingly adapted to their needs.  

The leadership of LAVAZZA Foundation, ALO, MAKAIA has been key to the project. The synergy of knowledge, innovation and efforts to provide tools to transform lives is our main purpose and with the donations at GlobalGiving we know this will continue to be possible.
