Sport dans la Ville is a not-profit organisation, founded in 1998, with the mission to drive underserved youth into careers of meaning and stability through sport. Sport dans la Ville operates in 51 urban, low-income neighborhoods. We use the power of sport to help young people across the country get into education, training and employment. Today, all our programs serve young people at every single stage of their development (from early childhood through young-adulthood).
In France, there exists so-called Quartiers Prioritaire de la Politique de la Ville, which could be qualified as the most disadvantaged neighborhoods in France. They are characterized by extreme poverty and very high unemployment rate. This is why, 23 years ago, Sport dans la Ville has made the choice to use the power of sport to help the young people from these disctricts build the essential skills they need to achieve their potential in schools, in life, and in work.
With the covid crisis, their need for support has increased as young people are facing numerous difficulties. The project has the objective to improve the situation of 50 youth (16-25yo), living in disavantaged districts, through 4 major steps: 1. Identification and enrollment of young people with difficulties at schools or with job searching issues, 2. Development of soft skills and self-confidence through sport, 3. Access to a job or a certified training, 4. Long-term support.
This project makes it possible to change the life of 50 young people and help them integrate into society. - 100% of them will gain essential skills and self-confidence. - 90% of young people from our programs are optimistic about their future (vs. 74% nationally) - 82% of the young people who exit our programs are in training or employment (vs. 64% in the disadvantaged districts)
