Youth Voices, Safe Choices: HIV Prevention

During this reporting period, La Casa de la Sal, A.C. continued implementing its Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) program, reaffirming that access to accurate information is one of the most effective tools for HIV prevention.

Our educational approach goes beyond the traditional teaching of sexual health. Guided by a psycho-pedagogical model, we address the biological, psychological, emotional, and social dimensions of human development. Through participatory learning experiences, adolescents and young people explore topics such as self-care, self-awareness, emotional well-being, sexual diversity, healthy relationships, consent, communication, pleasure, reproductive health, and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, with a particular emphasis on HIV.

One of the project's greatest strengths is the creation of safe and inclusive spaces where participants can openly express their questions, concerns, and experiences without fear of stigma or discrimination. These conversations help dispel myths, reduce misinformation, and build confidence, allowing young people to make healthier and more responsible decisions throughout their lives.

Comprehensive Sexuality Education also plays a critical role in reducing the social factors that increase vulnerability to HIV. By promoting respect, inclusion, gender equality, and human rights, the program challenges prejudice and stigma while encouraging participants to seek reliable health information and services whenever needed.

Our long-term vision is to empower young people to become informed decision-makers and active leaders within their communities. As they gain knowledge and confidence, many participants share what they have learned with their peers, families, and schools, multiplying the impact of HIV prevention and contributing to the prevention of gender-based violence and discrimination.

With the continued support of the GlobalGiving community, La Casa de la Sal, A.C. is working toward reaching between 1,000 and 1,500 children, adolescents, and young people through Comprehensive Sexuality Education. Every contribution helps create opportunities for young people to access life-saving information, strengthen their emotional well-being, and build healthier futures free from violence, stigma, and preventable HIV infections.
