Challenge

Success in our modern economy demands a wide set of skills, including STEM knowledge, digital literacy, leadership, and strong problem-solving and team-building abilities. All students need access to opportunities to develop these highly adaptable skills early and often, so they're better prepared to take on challenges and opportunities throughout their lives and careers and reach their full potential.

Solution

FIRST engages youth with exciting, mentor-based, research and robotics programs that help them become science and technology leaders, as well as well-rounded contributors to society. FIRST participants also develop skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and communication, preparing them for success in school and the workforce, no matter what path they take.

Long-Term Impact

FIRST students are prepared for greater success in the classroom and workforce. 90% of FIRST participants say that involvement in the program has improved both their academic & communication skills. FIRST Israel alumni are 2.9 times more likely to be majoring in STEM fields than comparison group peers. Participation gives young women the confidence to enter & succeed in a field that has historically been reserved for men.
