Summary

This project will support 2000 girls with overlapped marginalizations (early marriage, high school drop-out rates, lack of opportunities to actively participate in socio-economic spaces) in rural Jharkhand, India - to have a safe-space (Community & Child Resource Center or CCRC) with access to digital learning, life, leadership & 21st century skills. The project inspires girls to continue their education by preventing child marriage through creating a positive shift in community perceptions.

Challenge

Over 40% of girls don't finish their secondary schools in Pakur, Jharkhand. This is due to severe socio-economic barriers they face, including high rates of early marriage, poor perception towards their education and careers. This, combined with lack of safe spaces in communities, have led to poor self-worth and low prioritization to continue their education. Further, girls lack access to modern learning methods including access to digital resources, life and 21st century skills.

Solution

Project provides access to physical safe-spaces in communities to 2,000 marginalized girls with digital resources, where they are trained in life & 21st century skills - enhancing their confidence, knowledge, skills & clarity on careers. Girls identified at risk or have dropped off are supported to re-enroll through the engagement of school authorities. The project undertakes outreach to parents & community members in shifting their perception towards early marriage, girls' education & careers.

Long-Term Impact

The long-term impact of this project is to transform the socio-economic pathways of 2,000 marginalized girls in rural Jharkhand, India. By equipping them with digital literacy, life & leadership skills, it empowers them to break cycles of poverty, early marriage, & gender discrimination. These girls will become community leaders and role models, inspiring others to pursue education. This project also fosters a culture of gender equality and girl-education supportive perception in families.
