November 2023
Greetings Friends of 4GIRLS Organization,
Welcome to the season of shorter days, cooler nights, and the promise of greater things to come as we enter the Holiday Season of 2023. We, at 4GIRLS Organization, wish you all the joys of gathering with loved ones, and spending time with friends and family. For us, it is also a time to reflect on past accomplishments and plan for a new year of inspiring change in the lives of our Middle School girls.
In addition to the Annual 2-Day Workshop in May for middle school girls, we held a Transition Workshop Empowerment Event on Saturday, August 5th for girls just entering middle school. Over 80 girls registered for the event, which was facilitated by adult and high school volunteers. The girls were empowered through vision journaling, goal setting, and movement activities, and they received special presentations in break-out sessions with the Junior Mentors. Every girl left the event more confident and equipped to succeed in their middle school experience.
4GIRLS Organization just held the “Noche Para Las Ninas” (Night for the Girls) gala event last Friday in Long Beach, where we hosted close to 100 guests for a dinner and auction fundraiser. Donors raised their paddle to sponsor girls at the workshop, and empowerment events for 2024, while enjoying delicious authentic Mexican food and music, and hearing about the accomplishments of 2023. Our guest speaker was a Junior Mentor recipient of a 4GIRLS scholarship award. She expressed her gratitude and shared the impact her involvement in 4GIRLS has had on her life. She graduated from Wilson High School and is currently a freshman at California State University, Long Beach, in the Liberal Arts program.
Dayne was one of four (4) graduating high school Junior Mentors who were awarded a $2000 college scholarship. All four (4) of these remarkable young women served as Junior Mentors at our Annual Workshops and three (3) also attended the 4GIRLS Workshop as a Middle School participants, where they received the empowerment and inspiration to excel in their high school studies and be accepted at colleges like CSULB, Scripps, and Northeastern University. We are so proud to have had front row seats to their exciting journeys through middle and high school, as they fulfill the acronym of 4GIRLS: Getting Inspired 4 Real Life Success.
Thank you, GlobalGiving donors, for supporting us in this mission. Our organization is 100% volunteer-based and the programs we offer are free of charge to the participants, which means YOU make it all possible. Thank you, best wishes, and warmest regards for a happy Holiday Season.
Sincerely,
The 4GIRLS Board of Directors
