4GIRLS conducts two workshops in Southern California, bringing together middle-school girls from diverse backgrounds and experiences for a weekend of inspiration and empowerment. Our 2020 workshop is structured around the theme "Bold" and our quarterly empowerment events reinforce the workshop theme. At a critical time when building self-esteem is paramount, 4GIRLS provides young girls opportunities to access their strengths and voices, and to develop their identities.
Middle school is a difficult transition period for both boys and girls. However, studies show that girls are more likely to struggle during this time, particularly when it comes to self-esteem. And, girls with low self-esteem often make poor choices and engage in negative and potentially life-altering behaviors.
4GIRLS equips middle-school girls with the knowledge and tools to help them make good life choices. Through a combination of activities, instruction and mentoring, this program teaches girls to view themselves as authentic, confident and resilient. Feedback about the benefits of the program from both the girls and their parents or guardians has been overwhelmingly positive - "Thank you so much for giving me a whole lot of life lessons. This makes me stronger and confident."
When girls are inspired, they are motivated and stretch their goals and challenge themselves, which leads to accomplishing some extraordinary things. When girls are empowered, they make better life choices, which leads to better life outcomes that benefit not only them, but also their future families and communities. We are inspiring the next generation of leaders in school, business and public service. In 2019, this project inspired and empowered approximately 200 middle-school girls
