Greetings 4GIRLS Friends and Supporters,

As 2021 draws to a close and we complete our eleventh year in service to the Long Beach and Orange County area, 4GIRLS would like to thank you, our donors and community members, for your continued support as we carry out our mission.  4GIRLS Organization, a 100%-volunteer nonprofit, strives to inspire and empower middle school girls to identify themselves as authentic, confident, and resilient, preparing them for real life success.

In the face of challenges presented by COVID-19, 4GIRLS demonstrated resilience by adapting our programs, so we could continue to empower the young women in our community. 4GIRLS hosted its second Virtual Workshop in July at which approximately 40 middle school girls were in attendance. To keep the authentic empowerment alive throughout the year, 4GIRLS held two Community Events and two Empowerment Events. Our Community Events featured confident women in our local community, including two Long Beach Councilwomen, as well as leaders in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Our Empowerment Events were led by our fabulous Jr. Mentors, high school girls who continue to grow and develop their leadership skills through our Jr. Mentor program.

We held our first in-person event since the pandemic and it was a big success!  On October 9th, we did a Beach Clean up Empowerment Event for middle and high school girls and 30 girls participated in the volunteer event.  The Junior Mentors prepared a presentation and activity on Environmental Protection before the clean up and made root beer floats for the girls afterwards. Later in October, 4GIRLS volunteers manned water stations at the Long Beach Halloween-themed Haute Dog Parade.

We are hopeful to return to our cornerstone in-person weekend workshop in Spring 2022, where we provide educational opportunities in an exciting, inclusive environment with inspiring guest speakers and curriculum leaders.  This is where our middle school girls gain personal life skills and social emotional development, transforming themselves into the confident young women they are meant to be.  Our program is always provided at no cost to the participants.

None of this would be possible without the support of our donors and community members. Whether you provided your time, talent, treasure, or all three, 4GIRLS would like to thank you for the part you played in supporting our mission and the middle school girls in our community.
