The project INSERsport is based in the formation and the work insertion of young people at risk of social exclusion developing healthy habits and social skills through sports and psychological support. One in two youngers in vulnerability situation drop out of school before finishing primary education. INSERsport promotes sport and its values as an educational and social cohesion tool, to promote the social and labor insertion of young people from vulnerable groups.
The 30% of young Europeans are unemployed. In Catalonia (Spain) 143,600 young people are unemployed. Social policies try to deal with this problem but are overwhelmed by the number of young people in this situation. Having a job is an important tool to fight against poverty and social exclusion. Sport helps to acquire values such as constant improvement, mastery of emotions, patience, sacrifice, instills perseverance, works acceptance of defeat, cooperation, respect and solidarity.
The INSERsport program is aimed at young people who are at risk of social exclusion and make use of third sector organizations that collaborate with UFEC. UFEC's relationships with these organizations come together to form a kind of network. This collaboration has expanded as more sports clubs and federations that are passionate about these issues have become involved in training young to they obtain an certificate and can work as referees, monitors, etc.
200 young people in a situation of vulnerability and social exclusion will be able to directly benefit from the INSERsport project, obtaining sports training that will allow them to work, gain economic autonomy, continue training and contribute to the family economy. 600 people from the environments of these young people will benefit indirectly. Will be achieved with accompaniment of educators and psychologists, sport practice, theoretical workshops and exam to obtain certification.
