ImagiNation Afrika believes at its core that its innovative approach to ecosystem building must include evidence gathering on the lived realities of children and their caregivers as well as continuing advocacy with local, regional and international partners can support the creation of enabling environments.
Key to this advocacy is the power of storytelling, of the recording of lessons learned and most importantly, the stories of the actors, the ecosystem and the impact on young children’s lives.
Since 2016, ImagiNation Afrika has piloted an ecosystem approach across Senegal.Through a campaign promoting play based learning, stakeholder trainings, and the development of open source material and convenings with actors working in early childhood development, ImagiNation Afrika has extended its reach to over 400,000 ecosystem stakeholders in Senegal and West Africa.
Tambacounda is one of Senegal's geographically largest regions, bordering on Mali. Since 2016, ImagiNation Afrika has been working with a cross sector of actors to sustainably change learning outcomes for children. The project has had both enormous momentum and impact as reported by participants themselves.
In July 2019, in Tambacounda a major convening of all the ecosystem members came together for two days to meet and discuss the major issues negatively impacting ECD from a variety of perspectives.
With the support of local government, participants from across a variety of sectors (parents, educational institutions/actor, health workers (health personnel) community governments and local media) came together to exchange and reflect on the persistent challenges ECD faced across the educational, health, nutritional, media and legal and policy contexts. These ecosystem actors understood the need for synergy towards a common goal: greater outcomes for children 0-5.
We are happy to present to you all the stories of the work we are doing in Tambacounda. We could not be here without your investment in us helping us to better facilitate, listen, promote and advocate for the change we - and the communities we are working with - are seeking.
We are happy to share with you in the months to come more stories of the work we are doing together through the support of donors like you.
