In Nigeria, children of incarcerated parents are among the most vulnerable and marginalized groups in society. When a parent is imprisoned, families often face sudden financial hardship, emotional trauma, social stigma, and disruption in children's education. Many of these children are forced out of school due to inability to pay school fees, purchase learning materials, or meet basic educational needs.
To Prevent School Dropout: When a breadwinner is incarcerated, families often struggle financially. This leads to: Inability to pay school fees, Lack of school materials, Child labour and Early marriage (especially for girls) The Mordecai Care Foundation of Nigeria (MOCAFON) recognizes that these children are innocent victims of circumstances beyond their control and require urgent educational intervention to prevent long-term social and economic consequences.
