BAZNAS Report untill 2nd Januari 2026, severe flooding across multiple provinces in Sumatra has caused widespread displacement and damage to homes, schools, health facilities, and public infrastructure. In response, BAZNAS has implemented a large-scale emergency operation, reaching 122,133 flood-affected people across 11 districts/cities and more than 100 sub-districts, supported by 591 emergency responders and 43 medical personnel.
To address immediate needs, BAZNAS has established 57 public kitchens, providing more than 50,000 ready-to-eat meals per day, and distributed family food packages, hygiene kits, baby kits, clean water, and emergency supplies. Over 426,000 liters of clean water have been delivered, while 4,700+ patients have received health services. Psychosocial support, emergency sanitation facilities, and assistance for schools and places of worship have also been provided to help restore dignity and stability for displaced communities.
Next Plans: Temporary Shelter & Education Recovery
As the emergency phase transitions into early recovery, BAZNAS plans to support the construction of Rumah Hunian Sementara (Huntara) for families whose homes were severely damaged or destroyed. These temporary shelters will provide safe, dignified living spaces while communities work toward permanent housing solutions. In parallel, BAZNAS will distribute school necessities, including uniforms, bags, stationery, and learning kits, to ensure children affected by the floods can safely return to school without interruption.
Support from this GlobalGiving project will be critical to expand temporary shelter development, strengthen education recovery, and continue essential food, water, and health services. With continued donor support, BAZNAS aims to help flood-affected families in Sumatra recover with safety, dignity, and hope.
