Thank you for supporting this project. I am writing to share some updates about our Earthquake response in Indonesia. We appreciate you taking your time to learn more about this crisis.
In November of 2021, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit Cianjur Regency, West Java Province in Indonesia. This devastating natural disaster resulted in the displacement of over 114,000 people. It also killed 334 people, injured 7,768 more, and damaged 56,251 houses. As this devastating earthquake hit, it also triggered landslides in some areas of Indonesia.
ActionAid has responded to this emergency, providing some relief for this area through:
Distributing initial emergency assistance to refugees in 5 families. Some of the items provided included food packages, diapers, baby soap, blankets, and school study packages for children.
Providing food and non-food package assistance to 946 households. The non-food packages included sleeping mats, mosquito nets, towels, and more.
Providing psychosocial support services for the elderly, mothers, adolescents, and children. These services reached 1,000 people, including 474 women who received psychological first aid.
We continue to monitor the area and provide relief for those who have survived this disaster. We remain committed to humanitarian work and now more than ever, your commitment to justice makes a difference. Thank you for your support and solidarity.
