NTT Earthquake and Indonesia - Send Emergency Aid

As part of the ongoing emergency response, BAZNAS distributed 1,900 portions of ready-to-eat meals to earthquake survivors in Nanga Mbaling and Pota Villages, Sambi Rampas District, East Manggarai Regency, NTT.

The meals were delivered directly to several evacuation posts, with each location serving between approximately 137 and 800 people.

More Than Food: Supporting Families at the Shelters

The emergency response is not limited to ready-to-eat meals. BAZNAS has also established a community kitchen and water station to support the daily needs of displaced families.

The water station provides milk for children, as well as coffee, tea, and snacks for people staying at the evacuation sites. BAZNAS Disaster Response teams are also visiting affected settlements to identify additional urgent needs and coordinate further assistance.This approach allows the response team to listen directly to survivors and adapt assistance according to what communities need most.

Alongside food assistance, BAZNAS is also providing access to healthcare through Rumah Sehat BAZNAS (BAZNAS Health Center). For people living in temporary shelters, access to basic healthcare is especially important as they face crowded conditions, disrupted routines, and limited access to their usual health facilities.

In the midst of this crisis, BAZNAS has mobilized its BAZNAS Disaster Response Team (BTB) together with BAZNAS Health Services to stand alongside affected communities.

Bringing Help Where It Is Needed Most

BAZNAS teams were deployed to NTT shortly after the earthquake. Their first priority was to help search for and evacuate people who might still be trapped in damaged buildings, while simultaneously supporting communities with urgent necessities.

In affected areas, the response includes:

• Emergency food and essential household supplies
• Temporary shelters and sleeping materials
• Hygiene kits
• Community kitchens providing ready-to-eat meals
• Emergency healthcare services
• Support for women and children

A community kitchen has also been established to prepare and distribute meals for people staying in evacuation sites. Local residents and volunteers are involved in the preparation and distribution, helping ensure that food reaches families quickly during this critical period.

Healthcare When Families Need It Most

For families living in temporary shelters, access to healthcare becomes especially important.

In the aftermath of an earthquake, people may face injuries, illness, exhaustion, poor sanitation, and the emotional stress of suddenly losing their homes. That is why BAZNAS has integrated healthcare support into its emergency response, deploying Rumah Sehat BAZNAS alongside disaster-response personnel.

This approach is designed not only to respond to immediate injuries, but also to help protect the health and wellbeing of vulnerable people living in evacuation conditions, particularly children, mothers, older people, and families with limited access to essential services.
