A magnitude 6.7 earthquake shook Banten on Friday (1/14/2022) at 4:04 p.m. local time. The epicenter was located 52 km southwest of Sumur, Banten with a depth of 10 kilometers. Although there was no potential for a tsunami, the earthquake triggered residents to be panicked and damaged several housing.
The earthquake also was felt in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and the surrounding.
Based on data released by The National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure, it was recorded that 2 housing units were heavily damaged, 1 house was moderately damaged, and 15 housing units were still under damage data collection. In addition, 6 units of school buildings and 1 unit of health service were also damaged.
Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Emergency Response Team is still collecting the latest data and information regarding the condition of the residents. As in post-earthquake emergency situations, affected people generally need basic assistance such as medicine, ready-to-eat food, basic goods, blankets, tarpaulins and several other necessities, considering that they were forced to flee to safer places.
