Indonesia is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a long chain of active volcanoes, and 90% of the world's earthquakes source. The natural disaster risk index in Indonesia for tsunamis, floods, landslides, drought, and forest fires is also relatively high compared to other countries. ACT is on the front line responding to the emergency, providing basic needs on the ground such as shelter, food, and medical assistance. In the midst pandemic while thousands of people are still struggling, they are also affected by the natural disasters that happened recently in Kalimantan island, Java island, Sumatera and other areas. Many casualties reported while the survivors are still seek for support. Some of their house are destroyed including their source of income also affected. Not to mention numbers of public facilities such as schools, mosque, road, are seriously damaged.
The disaster mostly damaged their house, public facilities, cut their access to source of income. Responding to the disaster, ACT provides food aid as the basic need. Additionally, they can spend on another daily need. Medical services are also needed for treating their health and social healing process. Also to encourage recovery and renovation facilities programs. Furthermore, ACT engages the survivors in economical empowerment program to aim for their financial independence.
Encouraging relief and recovery programs to long term impact will affect on the continuation of their livelihood.
