During this quarter, through our education programme, educators provided individualized learning using sign language, tactile teaching tools, and structured routines. Families were trained to continue learning at home, and children accessed therapy and welfare services for holistic development. It helped deafblind children across India learn, communicate, and grow with confidence. Here’s how one young girl, Varnasri, found her voice through inclusive education and family support.
Story of Hope: The Journey of Varnasri
Ten-year-old Varnasri from Salem, Tamil Nadu, was born with profound hearing loss and low vision. After being asked to leave her school due to her vision impairment, her parents struggled to find a place for her to learn safely.
Varnasri joined our deafblind education programme this year. With patient teaching, visual aids, and her family’s involvement, she began to make inspiring progress:
Her father shares:
“After schools refused to admit her, we had lost hope. Now, we are proud to see our daughter learning and expressing herself confidently. We are grateful for the team’s continuous support.”
With continued guidance, the educator aims to strengthen her literacy and social skills so she can move closer to her dream of becoming a nurse, like her elder sister.
Looking Ahead
In the next quarter, the project will continue enhancing children’s communication and literacy, promoting social inclusion, and equipping families to support learning at home.
Thanks to GlobalGiving and the continued support received from donors like you is ensuring that many more children like Varnasri are building a brighter, more independent future.
