Dear friend,
We are delighted to share that because of your generosity, children are now going back to school. We thank you for your continued support to our campaign, ‘We are India’s children’. We participated in the GlobalGiving Rewards Bonus Day on June 15, 2016, and raised USD 1255.
Through the ‘We are India’s Children’ campaign, we strive to improve access to education and to create options for children of sex workers. Our aim is to protect these children and ensure they have a better future.
Krupa, 12 years old, lives with her step-mother who is a sex worker. She lost her real mother about 5 years ago. Her family struggled to make ends meet, and was finding it difficult to afford education for her. She was at the verge of dropping out of school. But, as a result of your support, Krupa is continuing her education, and is currently studying in 5th Standard. She aims to study further to fulfill her dreams.
As a result of your support, scholarships were given to 4 children from states of Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in India. However, we still have a long way to go. We have received 374 applications for support so far, and these children await financial assistance for continuing their education.
We will be running a campaign during ‘Joy of Giving’ week in the month of October to raise donations for these remaining children. We hope you will take the opportunity to help more children like Krupa get closer to their dreams.
Thanks
Team Swasti
